The temples give the upper face a contoured and wrinkle-free appearance. When your temples are full and plump, they help to shape a youthful face. As we age, this area starts to experience fat and bone loss. Moreover, the skin tends to lose collagen at a rate of about 1% annually. Collagen is needed to keep the skin firm and elastic. However, as collagen, fat, and bone deplete, the skin begins to lose its elasticity, resulting in hollowed-out and saggy skin. When this happens in the temporal area, a concave appearance results between the cheeks, hairline, and brow, creating a caved-in look or peanut head. When non-surgical Medical Aesthetic treatment is administered to the temple area, it starts acting like a cushion to maintain tissues, which have lost elasticity or volume. By restoring this cushion, the temples get recontoured and the area looks more youthful.
